Climbing the Timeline...

Threw this song together today. Take that back, I spent my entire time at home today with this song. But still, not bad for one day's work.

This is a song for two girls that I have known.
One is away and the other I can’t find.
I lay them both down in father river time.
This is a song I hope finds them both all right.

Father please take good care of them for me.
See them through your river bends and falls.
They’ve both done me wrong and left me far behind.
Though both have their faults, they are precious yet to me.

She taught me how to see the white sand room.
She touched my arm and we walked Aurora’s cloak.
We lay in bed awhile talking of our dreams.
Wish she were still here, as dead as it may seem.
She has a beauty that lingers in my mind.
Burrowing deeper with every passing word.
The sun still rises. The stars still will shine.
As does her voice even after I’m at rest.

I lay them down now in the river where they belong.
I cut the tether and watch them float away.
I stop myself when I try to float along with them.
Past the horizon, the dot will slowly fade.

So father river, be gentle with my gift.
With unlocked hands now, time receives its prize.
I’m left there standing in a blanket of regret.
The sun and the stars shine and remind me to move on.

One in the same, yet still so far apart,
They both should know that a part of me is theirs.
Free to take it whenever they see fit,
I’ll be around if they ever want to meet me again…
